Working at GreenMax has provided me with the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of positively challenging roles, from fund management, to consulting, to transaction advisory, all aimed at providing, unlocking, and attracting financing to eke out that additional kilowatt or household connection to close the very vast energy access gap in Sub-Saharan Africa.

As GreenMax celebrates its 30th anniversary, I reflect on my own two-year journey with the organization. GreenMax’s vast experience across diverse geographies and cultures is an invaluable resource, not just for employees, but for the entire renewable energy industry.

GreenMax Capital Group was an original USAID Power Africa private sector partner, where I first discovered the company’s impactful work in energy access during my tenure as Power Africa Coordinator.

Finance in Motion’s growth is closely tied to GreenMax’s innovative spirit and deep market expertise. A prime example is the pivotal market study and investment strategy GreenMax developed over a decade ago for a Southeast European energy efficiency and renewable energy fund.

As GreenMax celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2024, I find myself reflecting on my journey with this remarkable organization. A year and a half ago, I joined GMX to contribute to its mission of managing funds to enhance the productive use of energy in sub-Saharan Africa through the CEI Africa initiative.

My journey at GreenMax has been a deeply rewarding adventure, marked by pivotal experiences and inspiring encounters. From the very beginning, I had the privilege of working alongside colleagues with extensive technical expertise and dynamic leadership.

In 2024, GreenMax celebrates its 30th anniversary. Two years ago, I joined GreenMax to lead our expansion into energy fund management, an exciting new addition to our established consulting and advisory services. My role primarily focuses on the strategic design and implementation of the Results-Based Financing (RBF) component of CEI Africa.

Nairobi, Kenya, July 25, 2024 – Stichting Clean Energy and Energy Inclusion for Africa (CEI Africa) is illuminating the path towards a brighter future for underserved communities across Sub-Saharan Africa. Today, the organization announced its intention to award a total of USD 5.6 million in results-based financing (RBF) grants to three green mini-grid (GMG) developers: OnePower, KUDURA, and EP. These grants will unlock approximately 10,221 green mini-grid connections, bringing clean and reliable electricity to residents of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Benin, and northern Kenya.
