Position overview and responsibilities

GreenMax is looking to hire a Finance Manager to support the Group CFO in overseeing its Financial operations for its Kenya subsidiary. In addition, wehave been appointed as the Fund Manager for an off-grid energy fund in the DRC “the DRC Fund”, an assignment which requires its own set of books and financial reporting, under which GreenMax is hiring an additional 10-15 employees or consultants. Reporting to the company CFO, the Manager, Africa Finance and Administration will implement the financial and administrative management of GreenMax’s Kenya and DRC based operations and subsidiaries and be primarily responsible for:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Accounting:

Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets. Analyze financial data and present findings to the management team. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes. Manage and monitor AP system and payroll system. Management of payroll, AR/AP and expense reimbursements for the Kenya subsidiary and the DRCFund assignment. Bank reconciliations and management of banking relationships for GreenMax’s Kenya subsidiary and for the DRCFund accounts

  • Administration:

Management of human resources matters for the Nairobi and Kinshasa based teams. Management of office administration supplies etc. for the Nairobi office. Organize logistics, printing and supplies for conferences, special events etc. in Kenya.

  • Compliance and Regulations:

Stay current with financial regulations in Kenya and other countries on the continent and ensure the company’s compliance. Assist in preparing and filing tax returns,. Work closely with auditors during financial audits. Compliance with local labor laws for the Kenya subsidiary and the DRC based team.

  • Financial Analysis:

Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance.

  • Process:

Identify inefficiencies in financial processes and propose improvements. Streamline accounting procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and support decision- making. Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel) to manage and analyze financial data effectively.

  • Finance:

Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts.

Monitor budget performance and report variances to the management team. Monitor cash flows and ensure adequate funds are available for operational needs. Manage relationships with financial institutions and optimize banking processes.

Particulars

The Manager, Africa Finance and Administration role will be a full-time position. Applicants should be willing and able to work and live in Nairobi, Kenya.  GreenMax maintains an

Experience and Skills

  • Qualified accountant with at least a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from a recognized university
  • Professional accounting qualifications ACCA or CPA or similar
  • Member of ICPAK or a recognized Accounting body and in good standing
  • 5 years of work experience in financial and administrative management of a Kenyan or other Sub Saharan African registered organization
  • Experience handling payroll registration and payroll systems in
  • Experience managing travel, logistics, printing of marketing materials (exhibitions, flyers, etc.)
  • A good understanding of international financial reporting standards particularly IFRS
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving
  • Proficiency in using financial software (Quickbooks) and advanced MS Excel
  • Experience of working in a multi-currency environment/
  • Strong attention to detail and
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate across
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
  • French language skills will be a plus
