My journey at GreenMax has been a deeply rewarding adventure, marked by pivotal experiences and inspiring encounters. From the very beginning, I had the privilege of working alongside colleagues with extensive technical expertise and dynamic leadership. My decision to join GreenMax was driven by a desire to engage in diverse projects with both regional and international exposure. Here, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to major energy access initiatives.

I joined the company in September 2022, becoming a part of the Consulting Group where I focus on business development and project management. Shortly after my arrival, I was involved in several significant projects. I came on board during a period of rapid expansion, and GreenMax capitalized on the potential of the French-speaking market by opening a new office in Lomé in January 2023. This move, coupled with new hires, positioned the Lomé office as a key hub for French-speaking West Africa, bridging the gap between Anglophone and Francophone investment cultures.

It’s true that French-speaking African countries face unique challenges that hinder foreign investment. These challenges often include complex regulations, cumbersome bureaucracy, periodic political and economic instability, and cultural and linguistic differences that complicate communication between international investors and local entities. Additionally, underdeveloped infrastructure poses a significant barrier to attracting long-term investment.

After my involvement in various consulting and advisory projects with major international and regional donors from 2016 to 2021, GreenMax embarked on a new phase in 2022 by diversifying into fund management in West Africa. This strategic move has strengthened GreenMax’s presence and impact in the French-speaking region. Notably, GreenMax has been selected to manage a major electrification fund in Central Africa, reflecting its growing expertise in sustainable finance and energy infrastructure across the continent.

My time at GreenMax has been filled with challenges and opportunities. As we celebrate 30 years, it is important to recognize our achievements while continuing to address the challenges to enhance our approach and impact in the renewable energy sector. I look forward to the future with gratitude and optimism for the next steps.
