Clifford J. Aron is an energy finance professional with more than 40 years of experience who offers a diverse career as a business entrepreneur and clean energy sector specialist encompassing all aspects of management, marketing, project finance, policy and regulatory affairs. He is recognized as a leading expert on the financing of renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy access and e-mobility in emerging markets, having advised dozens of private investors on solar, geothermal, hydro, biomass, wind power and clean transport investments in emerging markets across Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia totaling several thousand MW of generating capacity.
In the African clean energy sector, Cliff has led the development of two seminal sustainable energy finance initiatives – the Green-for-Access First Loss Facility (G4A), a risk mitigation platform that partners with local financial institutions in Africa to facilitate local currency lending for Productive Use of Energy (PUE) appliances, and GreenShift Africa a trade facilitation and working capital instrument to accelerate adoption of Electric Vehicles. He has also co-led the development and implementation of the Clean Energy and Energy Inclusion for Africa (CEI Africa) Foundation, which offers a “one stop shop” solution for financing green mini-grid developers, off-grid solar companies and standalone productive use of energy enterprises in Africa.
An honors graduate in Political Science and International Relations from the State University of New York at Binghamton, Cliff continued his graduate studies at the New School for Social Research, Baruch College and the Parsons School of Design. He speaks Polish and reads French, Spanish and German.
Cliff splits his time between Nairobi and New York and in his spare time is an avid tennis player and bicyclist.
