Pavol Vajda is a clean energy finance specialist with more than 30 years of experience in private sector development, investment banking and sustainable energy finance and project development in emerging markets worldwide. Pavol spent 16 years managing sustainable energy finance assignments for IFC throughout Europe and Asia, focusing on development, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of sustainable energy finance projects and programs. Over the course of his career, Pavol has worked with more than 25 financial intermediaries, mostly commercial banks and leasing companies, helping them to design sustainable energy strategies and programs, identify market opportunities, develop financial products according to market needs, and scale-up their lending for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
As a consultant at GreenMax, Pavol has led several consulting assignments, including the design of green financial products targeting MSMEs and low-income households in Dominica and Suriname for the IDB Eco-Micro Program; the analysis of the renewable energy portfolio of the Development Bank of Nigeria for KfW; and the design and implementation of the National Green Energy Fund (NGEF) in Vanuatu for the Global Green Growth Institute.
Pavol holds an M.B.A. from City University of Seattle, Washington, USA, a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Slovak University of Technology and has completed post-graduate studies in Energy Economics and Management at ENI Corporate University. He is fluent in Slovak, English and Czech, and proficient in German, Russian and Italian.
