Description:

In 2021, GreenMax, in association with Energio Verda Africa and GeoPoll, was retained by the World Bank to conduct an assessment of the standalone solar market in the Central African Republic. The objective of the assignment was to assess the opportunities and challenges for the adoption and scale up of off-grid solar solutions in the country, with a primary focus on the household and productive use market segments. The market assessment included a GIS component and both supply-side and demand-side analyses carried out through stakeholder consultations, remote Computer-Assisted Telephonic Interview (CATI) surveys and a field mission to conduct interviews with end-users in off-grid communities. Based on the findings of the study, the GreenMax team proposed models to incentivize and support the scaling-up of off-grid solar electrification in the country.
