Description:

In 2018, GreenMax, in association with African Solar Designs and Energio Verda Africa, carried out a multi-faceted technical assistance assignment funded by USTDA to support development of a portfolio of 125 rural micro-grids by the USA-South African-Zambian company Standard MicroGrid. The TA included managing the geospatial studies to select best potential sites, organizing the community surveys and focus groups to confirm local demands, ability and willingness to pay. The GreenMax team also confirmed the regulatory procedures for licensing of the micro-grids and approval of SM’s unique pricing approach, provided tax structuring and insurance planning advice and prepared the aggregated financial model for the entire portfolio.

The GreenMax field research team leads a community focus group meeting with village residents in Zambia for preparation of micro-grid installation by Standard Microgrid.
